3 shaves down and haven't cut my face off , yet.... But I have caught the disease ;)
Well I got my DD back from Glen a few days ago. Really happy with the edge on it. I know I shouldn't have shaved my whole face but I did :nono: I thought I'll go until I nick myself. I went really slow and relathered about 5 times. I ended up not cutting myself until my last stroke on my upper lip (which I did last). Man it was a great shave and I'm really starting to enjoy the hobby. My birthday was yesterday and my wife got my the AOS starter kit in sandlewood. I really like their cream. Seems to make a good lather and I like it thick (I've been using a soap puck to wetshave with my Gillette for about 3 years). Anyways I still have a really long way to go but I've really been enjoying it for few times. My skin is so less irritated.
As for my disease, I keep talking with Glen about the couple blades I've picked up and he only helps to encourage it :p (my local antique shop stocks them well). As of 3 shaves I now have 4 blades. My DD which is the only one ready and that I've used. Glen is prepping/restoring my W&B with new scales (I'll post pics when she comes home), a Lion Cutlery I'll need new scales for, and for my Bday I got a really clean Swedish Heljestrand. The lady that runs the shop now recognizes me as the razor guy. I'm telling myself I'll stop at 7 once I have acquired a daily set. So we hope.... I know there is a name for what I have but it slips my mind at the moment.
Anyways thanks for all the advice I've gotten so far from you more experienced guys. I look forward to fully entering into this hobby and enjoying some good company. As I get the other blades cleaned up and restored I'll post some more pics (I enjoy pics and seeing what others have).
