Yes, an edge can become messed up that quickly, and IMO it is almost always due to operator error: poor stropping/honing can lead to a rolled edge; dinging the blade on the faucet or basin; the edge was poorly honed in the first place; or the steel itself is incapable of holding an edge.

YES!!! A good stropping technique can keep an edge shave-ready for quite some time. Of course, the quality of the steel itself is also a factor. For example, I shave 2-3 times per week, and I usually have mine honed once per year. Of course, YMMV due to beard coarseness, how often you shave, etc.

It looks identical to the Franks Shaving strop that I use as a travel strop - no issues with it - just more laps to get the same effect.

Try placing it flat on a bench in the early stages to help with your technique

I have kind of been going off of all the tutorials and advice, and been doing 25 linen 50 leather now i realize this strop is much smaller than most, what would you say is a good goal for passes?

I do 40/60 linen/leather on my full size strops so, probably, 60/80 on the small one would be OK
