I've bout my first razor of corse it was a shavette. ive been shaving for about two weeks now and im addicted. my dad tought me to shave with a brsh and soap so, i just bought a brush and soup and now i want to buy a cheap straight razor that is good can someone please help cause dovo and that is very expensive. please help me im in need.
I've seen a lot of members suggest whippeddog.com. You can get a cheap (but shave ready) razor from his sight unseen deal. I've just ordered my first razor and poor man strop from there.

Whippeddog is a great source for budget razors. You may not get a pretty razor but you will get great service and a shave ready razor. The Classifieds occasionally have budget razors but most will still be cheaper for the condition than in the open market.

I too am a huge fan of whipped dog. I keep seeing people say they are not pretty and I think that kind of gives some people the wrong idea. Sure your not gonna find fancy inlaid scales and gold edging on the blade and spine but that has nothing to do with the way they shave. I for one like the vintage look, and have gotten some pretty cool looking razors there. He's not going to sell you anything with rust or anything on the blade. Ive got a few from him and you can get a whole set up for under what you would pay for just a new razor. Have you looked at SRD's Dovo Best Quality though? I do not know what you are considering expensive but I have one and it is a great shaver and its relatively inexpensive as far as new razors go. Also you should check out the classified section here, there are some great razors to be found there. What is your budget for your setup? If you have soap and a brush already then all you really need besides the razor is a strop.
+1 to every one here, whippedog.com seems to be a really great answer. I personally never used larry's service, but i know many who have and i have handled some of the razors that were purchased from him and some are really cool blades. I have seen some really desirable sheffield blades show us at peoples door step ready to rock n roll right out of the package. If the idea of vintage, no frills good shave is what your about get on that deal. If not $80 for a new shave ready dovo from srd sound like a good option. My first razor was a dovo from srd, and though i have personally moved on from dovos as a matter of rule, they are still excellent shavers and prob the best first razor choice i would undoubtedly recommended a shave ready dovo from srd to anyone just getting started. Dont forget to pick up a strop, and dont cheap out on a strop either- no you dont need the best strop with exotic leather, but you dont want some chinese ebay special either. Spend some time searcing around the forum and see what other new guys are saying. Bet you general consensus in this neck of the woods for a newb would be either shave ready new or shave ready cheap vintage. Getting started with a straight is expensive, but once you take the dive theres no telling where the journey will take you.....
