Thank you guys for your encouragement. Truthfully, I need to give up on the closeness (at least for now) that I get from the Feather straight. I'm taking Ryan's suggestion and putting my Feather straight away for a month. I shaved today (3 passes) with my DOVO 6/8" best quality and it actually wasn't too bad. Not Feather close, but comparable with DE.
Another thing to consider. A Feather blade is very sharp, but it is also rigid. This is a big help in using a straight. The more hollow ground the blade the more it can flex. Part of your technique is to learn how to shave with a edge that may flex under certain shaving situations. I cannot cut the beard around my mouth without great difficulty with my full hollow ground razors, but with my two quarter ground it is much easier. Something else to think about.
