Does anyone strop between passes?
Yes, occasionally you have to.
I have not yet but I have had shaves where I thought about it. But, if a razor is dragging mid-shave enough to make me think about stropping I have, instead, put it away to hone-up later and picked up another razor to finish that day's shave. If I didn't have another razor available, though, stropping would be a very reasonable thing to try.
I have had to if my prep wasn't exactly what it should be. Especially for shaving the mustache area
I tried it back in the early days, and it seemed to help. I think you'll find that as your stropping and shaving techniques improve you won't have to strop mid-shave anymore. In the mean time do whatever works for you to have a smooth comfortable shave.
I have just one razor that demands it. It's old and mint. . . Perhaps that's why it appears to have been honed up, a name scratched on the scales, then never used.
Well I read in the shaving made easy book that he strops between his 1st and 2nd pass. So I thought it might make sense to do a couple of passes on the leather before the ATG pass.
I've never stropped during shaving, but anything less than 50 passes is not going to have much effect.
As above,I think if you need to strop during any shave, perhaps you are shaving with a blade that is not shave ready.
I have done it on occasion and it seemed to help the shave. But I +1 the advice to do what works for you.
