Welts?
I started shaving with a DOVO stainless steel about 2 weeks ago, going slow like you all suggested. Twice now I've come across welts when I'd been so impressed with myself for no nicks. I've really loved the shaves, but I'm wondering about the welts (both on my right side, near my chin, and today's high on my right cheek bone. Any ideas?

Welts? Ingrown hairs maybe?
Try pat drying your face with fresh towels after a shave, and dont forget the aftershave....
Otherwise im clueless :)

Thanks for the thought, epd. Never had them before. Maybe too much pressure -although, I'm mindful of using only the weight of the blade. I should also explain that I'm only up to WTG and XTG passes with the DOVO. I was hoping to try out ATG Saturday, although, now I'm not too sure.

Welts are caused by inflammation,Causes with using a straight? Blade angle to steep, To much pressure, blade needs to be made shave ready again,Since you say they are on the bony structures,I think to much pressure being applied,Just a guess.

I wasn't going to go there, Katan2212 but, the thought had occurred to me...

I use an alum block when I finish a shave. Even though I think I did not cut myself (see no blood), the alum block tells me the unbiased truth. It doesn't have to bleed to turn into a bump.
