But slow isn't necessarily wrong, especially for the beginner. Very good thread topic.
honestly were it me and I had hones I knew, if I knew they were well lapped, I would use them. You are already familiar how they feel when they are working and when they are done, when the edge is as sharp as this stone can get it. So for your first few razors at least I would use it, then as you know how a razor behaves when honing, switch to sandpaper, etc. if you want more speed. It might lesson the learning slope, so to speak. Hones and razors each have their own personalities, and you have to get to know them and combine them to get a sharp edge.
