Most of you know I'm new to straight razors and that I ordered my first ever cutthroat razor online(Dovo Ebony carbon steel vintage razor) and it has come in. I'm three shaves in, but I still haven't moved to the neck yet. I started off on just the sideburns down to my chin, then moved on to the entire side of my face, and just now successfully shaved my upper lip and chin as well with no cuts.
I started mixing my lathers today and here's what I used, Col. Conk's Almond scented soap, 2 drops of glycerine, 1 drop of australian tea tree oil(which unless you have acne or blisters only serves to man up the scent). I had a pre shave treatment of a hot shower, and a facial wash of Nivea energized facial scrub.
For the post shave treatment, I applied Nivea's post shave balm and a splash of Aqua Velva after shave.
I think it worked well together, but I'll look for a better oil counterpart than tea tree tomorrow.
