Anyone in the UK who can hone professionally?

OK, just tried to shave with my new Dovo first time. No cuts, but some serious razor burn (I expect due to making several passes instead of two, but I'll get better at it I guess). The stropping went fine, but felt a little awkward.

I suspect the Dovo can be (a lot!) sharper. It's straight from the factory. I did spend some time stropping with red paste, but even so I think it should be sharper. I bought myself a Belgian honing stone, but as a complete newbie I am anxious about attempting to hone the razor myself as my technique will be amateurish, and I don't want to ruin the blade (or blunt it further).

I've read on this forum that there are guys like Lynn who will hone a new razor for you, but does anyone have a lead in the UK for a similar service?

Finally, here's a link which might not have been posted before. I bought all the gear from here (Dovo blade, paddle strop, paste, Belgian stone, etc.).

It's a good store although they're not the cheapest around. As for honing in the UK I've not yet seen that offered. But I've done it for a few people in the UK. PM me and we'll see what we can agree on.

Tried a second shave yesterday. Technique was much better (less nervous this time) but razor burn still bad.

Heh, thanks Charlie. I'll keep it in mind, but I'm in no hurry. Like straight razor shaving, you gots to take your time, right?

Still, if sterling keeps rising might be feasible one day! ;)
