Hi everyone !
As I intend to visit some friends in Belgium during the first week of august, I thought it would be nice to visit the quarry and workshop of Ardennes Coticule. :)

Would love to but that's during my holiday in the Czech Republic. I visited Ardennes Coticule many years ago: it is great to speak to Maurice Celis, see the workshop en visit the quarry. He has some huge vintage coticules, one of them with w-shaped cupping, coming from a local farmer who had a very special way of sharpening blades with it.
I would just love to! Too far away, I expect! ;)

Finally couldn't see the quarry, it was required to ask several weeks before to plan a visit.

Had a nice time talking about natural stones with the owner of the place.
I show him my vintage coticule, he identified as a "La Veinette" vintage, fast cutter, and a chinese natural stone, fast cutter too.
He was interested in it, since he is making combined stones with BBW and "la pierre des Pyrénées" or carborundum #600 (it seems to be a really good stone by the way)

Theris, thank you very much for taking the time to share this with all of us as it is most kind of you. It is nice to see that the supply of hones is not running low.
They even had the authorization recently to open a new quarry :)
Hopefully, the exploitation is going to last and grow !

A pity I wasn't in the country to meet up Thaeris!
On a side note, a pity that during the international CCC meet-up there wasn't time for a group visit to Ardennes, Jodoigne is not too far after all...
I intend to call back Ardennes Coticule to planify a visit of the quarry with them.
It would probably be possible around the fall..
