I have recently started with the VDH Deluxe Kit. I would like to add a bit better boar brush. I am looking at the Vulfix 404 Mixed Badger and Boar, the Omega 49, Omega Professional, Semogue 1305 or 1470, or any suggestions from y'all for an under $50 boar or mixed brush?

Personally, I wouldn't get a mixed brush. if you want a boar get a boar. I think the mixed ones combine the worst qualities of both.

Omega 49. Both the 49 and Pro (48) have a tall loft, but the 49 is slightly shorter, which I find works better for me. I also prefer the color handles on the 49 over the plastic "chrome" of the 48, but that's a purely subjective preference.
My favorite is the omega big pro and is the one I would suggest. It has the same knot as the 49 and 48 but has much longer handle making a nice brush it the hand. It is good for face lathering cause it still has the stiffness of boar but is also good for bowl lathering as the handle clears even the deepest of bowl.
All the brands you mention offer quality boar brushes. I own two Omega modern beehive two-band boar brushes and consider them two of my best brushes. My only complaint with them is that the handles are hollow plastic. I also have a Semogue 830 boar brush which seems to have taken a bit longer to break in than my Omega boars, but does an excellent job crafting lather from a puck of shaving soap.
Finally, I own a Vulfix 404 Grosnevor Boar/Badger brush. No complaints with it. I believe that Vulfix also makes some excellent all boar brushes too.

Mixed hair....vie long. Get one with more mane over tail. All horse but mixed with mane and tail hair.
Or....save up and just get a Thater.
It is worth noting that Semogue boar brushes come in different grades.. the 620 and 1438 are their stiffest, the 1470 you mentioned is their mid grade, and the 1305 ( also the 830) is their softest. I like my 830 with soft soaps a lot, now that is is broken in (it broke in unusually quickly, too), but for hard soaps I prefer my 1250 ( same hair as the 1470 you are considering, just with a different handle)
They have a few other grades ( on their 1800, 2000, and SE each have a unique mix), but the majority of their brushes are made of those main three. Omega makes a solid brush, too (I still have an Omega boar in my travel kit, in fact.)
In your price range you might also consider horse, which is sort a mix of the traits of boar and badger, but in a good way.
My Semogue 830 is awesome! For a tad over 20 bucks, Ya can't go wrong.
I just received an Omega 10066 from Phil at Bullgoose. I have several on the "List" to try in the next few months including the Semogue SOC, Vulfix Grosvenor 404, and either the Muhle 31K252-Silvertip Fiber or Edwin Jagger Synthetic. Thanks again for all the help and encouragement!
