My three favorite brushes, in no particular order: Thäter Two Band, L'occitane synthetic travel brush, Omega 10098 'The Professional'.
I've given out close to a dozen of that Omega in the last two years when friends are getting into wet shaving.
For the first time or budget restricted buyer, it's impossible to beat.
I've been using a 26mm grade A from TGN for a while now and its just a wonderful brush! Its the knot I order when I put together any silvertip brush. As stated, the finest 2 bands are also a solid knot. I find them to be a very densely packed knot, soft and firm. Once you get up into the 26/28mm in the 2 band they also look very impressive.
Also, IMO the pure knots at TGN are a bargain. Great, scritchy little knots.
I put together a brush using an F2 finest. Not a bad knot but out classed by all stated above IMO.Quote:
Edit:Anyone tried the F2 finest badger? It says it's new, longer and softer tips.
Well, it just goes to show. Different knots for different shavers! I face-lather mostly and like stiffer brushes. 2-bands and boar for me. To complicate matters, I do not toss my brush in hot water, sometimes I soak the tips a bit. I load my brush and add water as-needed until things are right. I like to keep the backbone in my brush thru the shave and load it with lather. Not water! Those who use softer cremes and scuttles seem to like softer brushes for their lather. All in what you like! That's why they have a variety! :y
Well said Tom.
Does the Rubberset 400 have the metal fluted handle?
I don't have a rubber set but mine sort of looks like that.
Black badger has served me well and it always looks good in silver.
Also a TGN knot :<0)

Im really thinking TGN is the best knot from what i have gathered from here. I had some PM saying that Virginia Sheng is good and also shavemac. Shavemac is so high though as far as price. Virginia is cheap as far as price and they dont have the Grade A or mountain high white. Im looking for the best to put in this Rubberset 400. I know the best has to do with what you are looking for so ill say this.... I have an AOS silvertip nickle i like. I also have a simpson tulip 2 band that i love. I also have a size 22 finest from TGN in a Gold looking brush that i have only used once and I did like that. I want a big knot in the rubberset 400 but the biggest I think i can put in there is a 25.5 i may be able to fit a 26 but will have to dremel the knot down. I think i want a TGN from what i have been reading. Im leaning towards the grade A, I started off just wanting the HMW but not many people use that I guess. or no one has replied to this thread with enough input on the HMW to convince me to pull the trigger on it. I guess my 2nd pick would be a Finest knot 2 band from TGN.
