newbie brush question

Hi

After my last question about a new brush i got even more confused because of so many great opinions, and options

It will be my first decent brush and i am relatively new to it all so i probably don't know what i want to be honest
I may face lather or I may bowl lather
i would want to try soaps and creams, ( I've ordered a mikes natural soap but also have a proraso cream)
What size knot and handle would be best

I am specifically looking at these ones. They are in my price range and I want a badger

I have three brushes: a worn out brush I've had for 30 years and two AOS brushes that I've been given recently. They all work fine. I think that as long as you like it and the looks of it, it is hard to go wrong. The ones with the white handles appeal to me, but remember that you are the one they have to look good to. Any of the last three would work fine. I have nothing at all against the Whipped Dog brush. I just couldn't see it, so favor the final three. Good luck with whichever one you choose.

I have the Edwin Jagger brush, and it seems to be doing the job. Used it for almost a year and no issues of workmanship or suitability for use.

I've been using a cheap ($15) Tweezerman for a long while now, and it's in great shape.

As mentioned, any of those choices will work. It then comes down to a matter of preference.

I've used badger brushes of various sizes and they all work well. However, I've found that I prefer:
* A handle that is short and chubby, rather than thin or long.
* A long loft of 55 mm, rather than a shorter loft of 48 mm.
* A knot of at least 22 mm.

I take it that you are new to wet shaving? I would recommend that you at least try a best badger. A best badger is relatively soft on the tips but has a very nice backbone. Stepping up to a silver tip will insure a very soft tip but a slightly weaker backbone. For me, the softer the tip the easier to make lather. As far as the diameter I would recommend a 20mm to 24mm diameter.
Brushes are a personal choice. I like them all from the black badger to the super silver tips. For some reason you can,t have enough brushes either!! LOL
