Default New Lather Bowl from Sara Bonnyman

I had asked Sara to make a lather bowl to go with my Moss Scuttle that had a couple of different features than the one currently available. What I wanted was a broader flat base and more importantly a "textured" inner surface to aide in the building of lather.

There is nothing that irritates me more in the morning than chasing the dollop of cream around a slick lather bowl with your brush. Sara found the perfect balance between too slick and too coarse. The raised ridges are not so coarse as to damage the softest Silvertip, but greatly improve the building of the lather. I love this bowl. And of course, coming out of Sara's shop, it is beautiful to look at as well.

Dimensions: 4-1/2” in diameter and 1-3/4” in depth.
    Pattern: Waterfall.
    Cost: Contact Sara.

    Hi Jim,

Probably silly question, but is this in conjunction with the new Moss prototype you are working on, or a completely separate bowl all together?

I would like some sort of big "O" ring incorporated into the bottom of the bowl on the underside, so as it's a bit more gentle on the counter top.

    Thanks

    John

PS Thanks for your other answer on the Norton Prep Stone

This is a separate thing altogether. There are a number of commercially available products that you can pick up that at your local home improvement center that would provide a "non-skid" feature and at the same time not absorb water. The particular thing I'm thinking of comes in sheets and is used under throw rugs. I’m sure some others would have some ideas as well.

This looks exactly like what I've been looking for recently. I may have to break down and buy one.

Any idea when it will be available to the public?

You can order one from Sara now. Email her and say you saw mine and you want one just like it, or one in brown or blue, if that is the color of your scuttle. If you don't have a Moss scuttle, I recommend getting the matching set. The one I posted was the first, but she is making me 3 more with matching scuttles as gifts for friends.

This is the last thing I need in the morning. Clean up a Moss scuttle, clean up a Sara bowl, clean up sink, As we say in NYC "fagetaboutit"

    Rich,

You are talking about no more than a quick rinse and air dry. That's it. Admittedly, I have accumulated more shaving related paraphernalia in the last three years than a teenager who has just discovered boys and make-up. Fortunately, my wife long ago abandoned the master bath to the master. Yea right. That just means that I now have to clean it - every 6 months or so.

I just put my order in with Sara. I'm getting my self one in waterfall. It should be ready in April. I am very excited about it. It should be perfect for Colleen's creams. The waterfall style looks amazing as well. I wish I had seen the scuttle in it before I ordered the brown.
