Voted, 24 without question
I only have two brushes; a Dave Stevens and a Rooney Silvertip Badger and have no idea about the knot size on either.
Thanks for the replies guys. I have a hunch that 24mm is the most "popular", but it would be great if as many people as possible voted. It would be cool to see the numbers for the SRP community as a whole. :tu
I'm new and only have one brush. It came with a kit from AoS I think its 22mm, plenty big for me. But I would like to try a few more before I say what my favorite is.
mostly 26mm
26mm for me. just starting to get big at this size. I have a 24mm and a 20mm I like a lot too, but I reach for my 26 the most. I have a 30mm I'm going to be doing in the near future for myself. We"ll see if I like how BIG that size is.
As big, soft, and fluffy as I can get it, as long as it has a backbone. I also like a longer handle so I can keep my fingers out of the lather. 3-4" is about right for me.
24 is my standard size. I have not yet finished a set I am making of 5 sizes so I can only compare to 2 smaller brushes that I also like. I don't think bigger is going to work well for me. I just want to lather my face not the ears, nose, chest :<0)
The bigger the better, that simple,,,,lots & lots of loft,,,,:beer2:
I'll take 24 or 26 equally.
I use from 19-30 and I like a nice fluffy with a bit of backbone at 24ħmmm. I have a narrow face and usually can keep the lather out of my ears with that size.
YMMV

So far I have badgers in 20, 22 and a couple of 24's. I prefer the larger size so next experiment for me will be 26...then lkely 28 and 30:>) I believe loft to be at least equally important to knot size and I would also throw out knot density as another important variable.
Cheers
I voted the biggest but ddon't like a short loft. Something like the Kent BK12.
My sweetspot is between 22 and 28.
24 that is what I like to use :D
I buy the knot to fit the brush i'm fixin'. So far most of my experience has been with 26, but I have a 24 patiently waiting my extrication of the previous varmint follicular pod (VFP) for installations. The 19 is a bit weak.
I don't know if I'd want to wrestle much bigger than 26, it fills a bowl/face/sink in short order.
savile row 3824 is tough to beat.... 24mm gets my vote.
If you are talking silver tip badger it would depend on the type of silver tip, loft, how densely packed, bulb or fan and how much it blooms. If I bought another one it would probably be a 24mm knot. You can't always go by what the listed knot size is either. Ordered a densely packed silver tip 3 band bulb that listed as 25mm and after it bloomed thought damn that is an awful big knot. My calipers say the knot is 27mm. It is getting to be on the too big side for me.

26mm anytime.
24 easyly :rofl2:
