Best Brush for Versatility

I am sure this discussion comes around every so often in one form or another, but....

Which of your brushes is the best when it comes to "can do everything"? I don't necessarily mean your favorite brush or best looking one. I mean the one brush that works to your satisfaction with creams, sticks, soft soaps, hard-milled soaps, bowl lathering, face lathering, and has a handle that is ergonomically correct.

Example:
My favorite brush is an Omega 11126-Boar. Nothing exquisite and I surely like it better than the rest of the lot. But, it is not the most all-around utilitarian. That honor would go to my Simpson Colonel X2L-Best Badger; this brush simply does everything I throw at it and does it rather nicely.

What's your "McGyver" brush??

I would say a TGN 2-Band Finest in the handle and size of your choice............

Agree.TGN two band finest are some of the best knots available today,IMO

Thater 4125/2 26mm silvertip is mine. Not the softest but works best overall with every soap or cream I have tried

All of them. Really.

I had a custom made years ago with Elephant Tusk and it has a huge Silver Tip knot that is as floppy as they come. I would not use that on a hard soap but that's mostly a display brush anyway.

My Simpsons Persian Jar 3. Its a good brush for all purposes.

I do not bowl lather so my comments are for face lathering using cold water to shave with. Any of my boar, badger or synthetic brushes will lather any cream, croap (soft soap) and hard soap I have. The easiest to use all around have turned out to be the synthetic brushes where I have had the knots set to a loft much lower than normally done at the factory and the Simpson's Chubby2 synthetic which has a real low loft right from Simpsons. The Simpsons Manchurian badger is also a good all a rounder for me.

I am down to the 2 bands. Works with anything. Silvertips and the like are all gone. Too soft for me.

Well the general consensus is 2 band. I agree its one of my favorite knots. But the real workhorse in my collection is actually one of the cheapest. EJ best badger faux ivory handle. Its the perfect size for me as I bowl an face lather, use creams an soaps. All around an excellent brush that's been in service for over two years an still great shape.
