I just purchased a Thater 4125/2 Black Chubby Handle Silvertip Badger Shaving Brush, 26mm.
I love the handle and I am due for a new brush. Anyone have one that could tell me how they like Thater brushes. Particularly this one. Thanks.

I've got it in a 2 band with the white handle. Great brush with firm backbone but soft as butter tips. A pleasure to lather with.
Jimmy I got the "finest silvertip" in off white. I pasted that wrong...lol. what's the difference between 2 band and finest silvertip?
No Thater's but I have this Semogue that I love if you can find one....firm, but soft. I also have a Simpson Commodore X2 Best Badger that is "scritchier" but a good latherer. I like both, but the Semogue is my favorite.

This is it. Is this a 2 band or 3 band?
Thater are my favorite brush knots. Just superb. I just wish they had handles more suited to bowl lathering.
I love mine. Have it off white. Been on a kent kick but tomorrow it's the Thater
I don't own a Thater not an easy brush to source in the UK but I do like the look of the Thater 4125/1 Two Band with the fan shape knot must be a fan as I'm not a fan of bulb shape knots, in fact I've put my new Simpsons M6 up in the trade section looking for one of these brushes.
I own one. Got from SRD. Love it. Not as densely packed as a Simpson chubby 3 but neither is the price. It's a great value for sure. You pay for value not hype
I have three Thaters all two band and they are all great brushes. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Though I have to say even with Thater on one of mine the knot fell out.
The bulb shape actually works very well for the Thaters. Since their brushes tend to be more of a medium density and so soft at the tips, the bulb shape adds a touch more firmness and precision for the lather placement. For Thaters, I much prefer the bulb shape.
Gentlemen,
Through the years, I have owned various models of Thater brushes, two-band and three-band, all silvertips, of course, and found them superb in every way. I am down to one Thater now, a 25mm two-band, and find it to be one of the sweetest. The bulb shape is a pleasure for lathering — looks enticing — the backbone is impressive, and the tips are touched by the silk gods.
I might have to try a Thater again. I believe all I ever owned was their 3-band silvertips and I tend to gravitate towards two band brushes. Since they have two-banders out I might have to grab one as its been awhile (years) since I've bought a brush. I can say that their 3-bands were some of the best I've encountered. Thater is definitely a solid company for brushes.
I have a Thater 4125/2 and I consider it the best of the best
Great brush for the money you will love it
Gents:
What I like about the thaters are couple things:
The bulb shape in the knot.
The fact that they are real nice packet.
They are the not small not big. They are in the middle.
The price.
Quality overall they are super brushes for the price. If I compare them simpsons, brushes I do have I considered that for the price is better to get a Thater.
Thanks
Ken
The Thater is one of the best period
Thanks for all the advice guys. I can't tell you how happy I am with that brush. it is unbelievable how soft it is. Nice and dense as well. I would highly recommend this brush to anyone.
