Can someone recommend a good shaving bowl?
I like antique ones and of cousre ebay you can get them cheap, or Sara's new one looks great have not tryed it but her scuttle is awesome.
I use a simple rice bowl these days, but am looking for something the same size with a little more texture like Sara's new on perhaps. I'm no impulse buyer so I'll keep looking for a while.

I checked on ebay but all I could find was a wood bowl and nothing that was 5 inches wide which is what i want.
I have a old spice mug . This mug is not too deep and is good and thick. You can get them for a few bucks.
I use a cereal bowl that I got for about $3. It measures about 5 inches across and 2.5 inches deep. It is just about a perfect size such that I can hold the bottom with my left hand and stir with the right.

I got mine from Chinatown for $3. 4½" wide x 2½"deep.

I use a Japanese tea ceremony cup for my soap. My wife bought it for me on my 40th birthday!!!
I like simplicity:

A small stainless steel mixing bowl that fits in the palm of my hand.

Those huge latte mugs from the '90s work great. I have one that I used every day until I got my Moss scuttle...

Panera (that bread store) has some nice latte mugs or even their soup bowl is really nice - almost like an apothecary mug.
4 different scuttles....i love the designs
Ebay loves me
Two scuttles, love them both, and a stainless steel bowl, one scuttle here. one scuttle ebay (10$) free bowl, (they were going to through it out at work).

There was a thread over at SMF some time ago outlining various bowls.... anyway, I ended up getting a bowl called a "quaich" after drooling over the pics. Beautiful pewter Scottish ceremonial drinking vessel. Perfect as a shave bowl. Don't have a pic, but if you do a search for QUAICH at SMF you'll get to it.
Whassup guys?

It reminds me of a porager or porringer. They have these in different New England shops. A lot of them made from pewter.Quote:

Here's the product line from a Pewterer here in CT.
