omega 10098

I have been using my new omega 10098 for just over a week and am very impressed with it.
Initially it stank but that has mostly gone away, i added a tube of omega cream when I bought the brush, all up i spent $24. I have been using omega cream for a while already so the cream was no surprise, it is very good regardless of price. For $6 or so it's well worth trying. It is a bit mentholly/ eucalyptusy not sure which but i am told it is like a mild Proraso scent wise.
Anyway, the brush, i like everything about it, the long handle is great, the lofty, reasonably stiff knot is good, i know i like boar, i like my semogue 1305, but this is far and away a better brush.
The handle is plastic and fairly light not that I really care.

I know a lot of guys like this brush. When I took my first one apart to do a rehandle on, a lot of guys gasped. It has a very nice high quality boar knot. Long, dense and firm. Here's a couple rehandles I did using the knot from this brush. Like you said Ed, the only down side is the plastic handle, but to some that's no biggy, still works the same.

I have one and really like it. Dense big sucker. :tu Works great!

Best out-of-the-box bowl lathering brush ever. I have many "nicer" brushes that sit largely unused in my shave closet. The '98 sits on my basin ready for frequent use.

I chased after brushes for years but lately my big Omega 48 and 49 get most of the face time. Proof positive you don't have to spend a lot of cash to get a great performer. Time to offload some badger and stick to the Italian boars I think.

Selling off some of your brushes might go some way to paying for that livi you recently aquired :)

Omega 10098 was the first brush when i re-start traditional shaving
Immediately i saw that the handle was not working for me
I made a modification to that and i use in once in a while just for sentimental reasons.

I really enjoy using the bigger Omegas.
