How do I clean a new shaving brush?
You could just shampoo and rinse several times and call it good. Thats what I did on a Pure Badger brush. It will take a while for the brush to start smelling like a shaving brush. I thought about using a conditioner as well but decided against that.
In the past I've used borax. it seems to work pretty good.
A mix of 1 part vinegar to 1 part water. Let the brush sit in there for about 10-20 minutes, swirl it around and such occaisonally. Rinse out thoroughly then use a decent hair conditioner on it. Rinse that out fully and you should be quite pleased with the results. :beer1:
I always soak my new brush in a White vinegar + hot water soluble
After drying it's time for palm or bowl lather with a regular soap and finally a some hours soaking with a strong smell soap or cream.
After drying the brushes goes for the first test, photos, comments etc.
I had a bar of lava soap on my sink and decided to give my soap scum brush a whirl on it. It cleaned that puppy up like new. Not sure of the long term effects, if any, but sure worked well.
Gents:
I have my brushes for more than 6 years now. The only thing I do is use human shampoo and human conditioner. Wash them first with the shampoo with my hands. After that I put some conditioner. Leave it there for some minutes wash it to eliminate the excess and that it.
thanks
