I guess you get what you pay for....

My Satin Tip Purist, synthetic brush just disintegrated. I purchased this as a kit with a crappy Gold Dollar 208, and a piece of leather that they call a stop. I actually enjoyed the brush a little. It was soft, with just enough rebound to get a good lather. I did notice that I had to use a little more water, but I chalk that up to the fact that it was a synthetic knot. I made sure to thoroughly dry it after every shave, and I always hung it on a brush stand to allow the water to drain out of the knot. I never used overly hot water on it, and the weirdest part... It never shed a single fiber. Oh well, to each their own. I just might have to reach into the piggy bank to get enough money for a WD Silvertip.

Have any of you guys had any experience with this brush?

Yep sounds like you exactly what you paid for

I have a couple of Whipped Dog silver tips. Once I got the knot set where I like it they are fine brushes. Not too pricey and not too cheap. Mine has been going for a while, I suspect it is around for the long haul. It is better than my West Coast Shaving brush, but not as nice as my customs. It is my brush that I take to work for my three week shifts. The customs stay home for that.

Try the Fine Angle Hair Synthetic, never tried it but people say it is very similar to the Plisson. It is also pretty cheap.

I didn't get that brush, but I did have a similar cheap brush. Mine was holding up just fine, but I upgraded to a badger brush. The badger brush is a nice improvement, they have a better feel and they hold water and lather better. I have two now and neither one was over $30, but they are miles ahead of the synthetic brushes. I have not gone into the world of expensive brushes just yet:)

I tried a Badger Latherwhip, seems good all round, even better than Dad's Old Silvertip, price was 29.00.

Out of curiosity, in what way did your synthetic disintegrate after not shedding a single hair? If the knot just fell out complete and the handle is still intact also, you can just reglue the knot back in with some epoxy.

WD brush's are pretty good. I have one that I got from a fellow shaver friend. I do like my Franks Shaving brush's better though and they are very reasonable on ebay. I now have 4 of them & have another knot coming
