For me, right now is a synthetic knot set in a handmade resin handle.
Difficult question. It's like picking a favorite color or song or child. Depends a lot on my mood. I have three brushes that get a lot of attention. A custom I got as a gift from a friend, a custom made with wood from a tree I fell and milled, and a cheap brush I take on the road with me. I am away from home more than 6 months a year. I would use the other two more if I was not afraid to take them away when I go. I could not choose between the two customs. They are perfect brushes for me with different handle styles. The cheap brush I use I steamed the knot out of it and reset it twice in order to get it just right. I like a soft brush with a lot of backbone, I tend to face lather and use hard soaps.
P.S.
All my brushes are silver tip badger.
That is as difficult as favorite razor but... Today if I had to pick three they would be a Simpson Polo in Super, a Vulfix 377 in Silvertip, a custom Shavemac in two-band.
Tomorrow that may all change but these three have great tall handles, super soft tips, no scritch, and have been favorites for a while.
In badger it would be Simpsons Manchurian, in boar Omega 10066 and in synthetic it would be Simpsons Chubby 2. Generally I reach for one of my synthetics more than the others.

So far, my Plisson High Mountain White #10 Badger Brush rules supreme for me, for face lathering my Simpson's Chubby 1 Super Badger is hard to beat, my Walleyman custom is fun to change things up, and today after a fun purchase from the Classifieds here at SRP, going to try the biggest mother of a brush I've personally ever seen, a Polo 10 Super Badger...looks like it will be a monster bowl latherer and may only need to dab myself somewhere in my nose region to lather my entire face....:rofl2:
My three Thater 4292's a 3, 4 & 5. All dual band silver tips. Can't say I like one more than the others, but I sure like them all.
I started out with a couple common commercial brushes like a Jagger but, once I discovered The Golden Nib ( Pen Kits | Fine Writing Supplies | Wet Shaving Parts & Brushes | The Golden Nib ) I've been buying my own parts to build my brushes.
I've found I really like their Standard Silvertip for Badger and I like the 3-Band Nylon Synthetic. I only own a handful of Brushes but only one is a Vintage Nylon while the rest are TGN Brushes.
Here's a Standard Silvertip 20mm that we put into an Ebony handle that I turned with a lot of help a couple years ago at a Yakma Meet.
My cheap boar brushes get the workout 6 days a week and whatever looks good to me on Sunday.

I have a Thater 4292/5 that I got a couple weeks ago, and it's fantastic. I've tried a couple of boar brushes but didn't really like them. I pretty much use the same brush for every shave.
Actually vie long horse hair butterscotch handle. It produces great foam with any cream or soap. In FL for me it's pleasant. The second is Omega Proraso... I prefer it over omega 48... The dimension of knot and length of bristles are good for relaxant massage (but this after a good break about 20/25 shave)
Mostly inexpensive boar brushes but lately I've used a Van Der Hagen badger and a Tweezerman a good bit
I hope this discussion is with a woman's view of brushes in mind after all it is the ladies forum.
Otherwise we have a forum for the guys to talk brushes.
My apologies to soapbuddy, I certainly had not noticed this was in the ladies forum.
Its difficult to say which is the best brush. Please don’t run me out on a rail, but my Plisson, Pour L'Occitane Synthetic is very close to the top. It is so consistent that I never have any issues with producing decent lather. Its extremly soft to the face. And lather is produced through the entire brush. Of course my M&F 3 Finest Bader is up there along with Lord Randal Badger.
For both my Wife and Daughter I bought Matthew "Brushguy" Northing's handles and then set my own TGN 3-Band knot and they both love them! Crazy cool colors like swirled acrylic and the handle is longer and a bit extended for a multiple-position grip.
I can't post a Link as my phone App pops up no matter what I do when trying to get to Etsy... But, just search "Brushguy" on Etsy and you'll find his Shop.
He does mass-postings rather than ewch as he makes one as he frequently sells out pretty fast. Next posting will be 09/19/15 at 5p EASTERN.
Matthew "Brushguy" Northing still has 13 or so Brushes up and you can find them here:

My fiance uses a razorock plissoft brush I got for $10 at italianbarber. before she got that she used an old peerless brand synthetic that had gen 1 nylon bristles. like lathing with a wad of fishing line.
Classic Muhle Silver Tip 25mm
I have a Thater 4292/3, 4292/4 and 4292/5 already, the 4292/6 is in my shopping cart for my next order (a 60th birthday present to myself). I love the ones that I have and will the new one, too. My favorite will be the one that I m using at the time.
I'm waiting on my morris & forndran to show up, that will most likely be my favorite. My current go to is a custom buckeye burl from harrywally, with a 28mm high mountain white knot.
Black badgers from FS and TGN
Old versions because the quality on my latest purchases had dropped dramatically.
Maybe they change their providers.
For me it's just a simple while plastic handled Simpson Best Badger! I have tried others but keep going back to it:)
Thater 4292/3 and Superior Shave Nusbaum silver tip. I am preceding smaller knots nowadays
I like boars and I use them like I hate them. However, I have a 25mm homemade Shavemac 2 band silver tip fan that about as nice of knot as I've run across.
I have a love/hate relationship with my favorite brush. I got a Silvertip Badger from Art of Shaving with a gorgeous metal handle. In true Art of Shaving fashion, it was priced at a laughably ridiculous 250 bucks, but I got it anyway. However, also in line with Art of Shaving, the quality is there, which softens the blow. It's an extraordinary brush (manufactured by Muhle, I believe) and I love it. I just don't get that company though. Some really nice products, but the pricing is nuts.
That is the challenge for me with so many of the mid-higher end Brushes regarding their prices... Unless they are sourcing differently or building their own knots then how different can a brush be if the majority are knotted with same/similar hair?! That is what has stopped me from taking the plunge on a higher end brush... Build my own for around $40 with parts from TGN or many multiples past that price from another company... Perhaps not having a store like AOS nearby is more blessing than curse as, if I could get my hands on the good stuff, my situation may not be nearly so confusing and wallet would be much lighter?!?! :)
My Thater 4125/5. It is obscenely massive, but such a pleasure to use.
Ive tried silvertip badger and also boar, but I now use a cheap ($5) Omega synthetic exclusively. It feels good, does a good job and its dry by the next day.
I love my original brush--an Art of Shaving badger. It was a gift and was the gateway for me into the world of wet shaving. I have 7 brushes now, but the AoS is still my favorite.
My omega boar is my favourite brush, as I know it best. My best brush is a Thater silvertip plexiglass handle not sure of the #.
My Vulfix Old Original Super Badger is my favorite. It also happens to be the cheapest brush I've bought. Go figure.
Of my three: my VP Leonhardy 700030 is the one I enjoy the most, but if I could only keep one, it would be my Simpsons Classic 1.
