With a custom of multiple materials( last one I made was buff horn, real Ivory, musk ox burl and thuya) took maybe 10 hrs.
Than add a $40 knot.
Unless your time in tottaly useless is nothing to be made with brushes.
another possibility would be to find a vintage brush at an antique store and re-knot it. Ever-readys are cheap and plentiful. and you could learn yet another useful skill.
I'm partial to wooden handled brushes. Started with learning to replace knots in inexpensive brushes and moved on to restoring them. Some examples of my collection.

just an update. ive chosen a knot and handle from TGN, also i picked up the epoxy they sell. I know this will not be the only brush i own in my life so if its not everything i want, well then at least i tried. to those who posted photos of their amazing work, I can only hope that one day i find myself in possession of such work
my new brush got its first use tonight. oh man. OH MAN. damn close to exactly what i had in mind. maybe a tad bit over sized, but totally acceptable. I actually stopped mid shave, reached in my cabinet and threw away the cheap brush . . . never again will i settle for "just getting by"
this is a TGN silvertip premium knot 24mm and a their horn #3 handle.
