That's a beautiful set. I've never heard of this seller before but I can't see anything wrong with the mug or the brush. Do you like the scent of Bay Rum? That's what's coming with this set if I read correctly.

    Price seems fair too.

Beats me. I don't know what it smells like. There is another vendor with an identical set for 10 bucks more. It only comes with one soap, but lets you choose other scents.

You've heard us all rave about Tony Miller. Have you come across the shrine to Colleen yet? She's our resident Soapmistress who has some of the finest shaving soaps and creams you can buy (oh, by the way - she has great bath soaps and gift baskets for the wife when your "honey - it's an investment" line finally dries up and you go ahead and get that next gun )

If you talked with her, she should be able to hook you up with a sample kit of soaps in different scents for you to try at some point.

I mention this because if you wanted an economical idea you could go to drug store and pick up a boar bristle brush and a simple bowl (I got mine in a set from Brooks Pharmacy for around $10). Then get some samples from Colleen. It gets you at about the same place as this kit (not nice pottery but functional) but with a variety of soap scents to try out.

her email is thegentlemensquarter@verizon.net or PM her using the name churley.

If you get this set from ebay, please let me know how you like the mug. My Mug Acquisition Disorder might start to kick in soon

I got me one of those mugs and love it! The soaps are great smelling and lather well. I threw away the shaving brush 'cause I can get a way better boar bristle brush from the nearby CVS store and the small brush had hardened glue on the bristles. Even my boar bristle brush is too bushy to fit in that loop on the mug. You're supposed to be able to place a brush in there to dry but most brushes are too bushy. All in all I was happy with the purchase. The color is more matte than in the sellers picture but the mug and soaps are worth it.

PS: Pic of my mug with my good boar bristle.

Exclamation is that a boar brush?

That brush looks more like a badger brush.

As I cecked my medicine cabinet, that IS my badger brush. Now where did I place the boar bristle? At any rate, a store bought boar bristle is still better than the small thing that came with that mug.
