I was lucky to get ahold of a Burt's Bees shaving gift set. What I don't understand is why are they selling for so much? I see a lot of old old spice shaving stuff but the prices don't even come close to Burt's Bees.

Aren't most of their products premium priced compared to the "standards"? I know I use their lip balm and it's at least double what chapstick sells for...

I don't know why it's expensive either, but I think it has to do a lot with the packaging and the image associated with it. And on another note, I've heard that the shaving soap is good for washing your hands and not much else.
I had heard good things about the shaving soap, but I also heard that they discontinued it last fall.
I met a guy on Friday night who is a chemist for Burt's Bees here in Durham, NC
I should have asked him about their shaving stuff
Its all about image and their status as yuppie stuff. That commands high prices. I've used their shave soap and personally thought it was terrible. it produced a poor lather and dried out very quickly.
The shaving soap was crapp for sure. The mug looks alright, and I couldn't be sure but I thought there was a brush that I just had to throw away (heavy porcelain handle, bad boar bristle)
Cheers

I had bad luck with the 'shave' soap as well (if you want to call it that...I think I would have had better luck with a bar of Ivory soap!).
However, the aftershave balm... I like.
