Shavemac brush

Anyone else have problems getting this brush to lather soaps ? I have tried different soaps and amounts of waters but i just cant seem to get a lather with it.

A shavemac brush is one of the best brushes made imo. Lather happens in seconds with mine. Keep in mind cheep soaps act different than quality. With my Shavemac and MDC soap i have more lather than needed for a full 3 pass shave with 10 to 12 swirls on the puck!

Well i havent gotten a good lather yet and the soaps were all things like stirling and southern witchcraft and cbl so they were all top notch artisan soaps.

It could be that the Shavemac brush is different from the one you used before and you need to modify your technique in loading and lathering up.

my previous brush wasnt a shavemac so yes i will have to alter which was what i was asking about. i was curious what techniques seem to work with shavemac and no the water is fine. thanks....

Lathering problems are pretty easy to figure out because there are just 3 components. Even a cheap brush will do a good job lathering. The problems are usually the soap, the water or the technique. If your water is great and you say your soap is great that leaves just one factor.

I assumed it was me that was the problem concerning lather and the brush..i was just looking for advice and tips and tricks for getting these brushes to lather...thanks everyone for the assistance.

You asked for tips

Stirling is an ok soap. Never heard of the other. Get some Tabac soap. Pretty cheap and works great.

Thoroughly wet your face
Use the top of the brush to load the product. You can use the Stirling at this point. Work up as good a lather as you can. Let it stay on your face for a few minutes. Brush your teeth.

Thoroughly rinse your brush. Shake the brush out over the tub.
Run hot water in the sink.

Thoroughly rinse your face

Run the brush tips over the Tabac. say 25 swirls

Apply to your face using circular motion. Once your face is well coated start using painting motions. If the soap is thick, dip the brush in the water and reapply to your face. You can do this more than once.

If the lather is thin go back to the Tabac and get more product. Keep using the painting motion. Repeat until you are happy with the lather.

You can repeat dipping The brush in the water

The more you work the soap the better the lather
The more water you add the slicker the lather.
This takes me about two minutes.

If you are not happy with the lather, rinse off the Tabac and start over with the Tabac. No law against restarts.

Practice, practice practice

Good luck. You will get the hang of lathering
