A friend gave me his Dad’s brush

A few days back I got a small package in the mail. Enclosed was a small Shaving Brush that my friend’s Father purchased just before leaving for WWII. I was a bit worried about how old it was, but I’ve used it now twice and it worked great. I didn’t lose a single bristle.

The history makes it a true treasure.

One way to get it into tip top shape is give it a 20 minute bath in a 33% vinegar water solution and then rub in some Pantene hair conditioner. Rinse the Pantene out and hang up to dry.

How has the lather been?

Yup, a vinegar soak will revive the brush, bring it to full bloom, and a lather maker. Any good metal polish will buff any small scratches out of the clear plastic.

A great plastic polish is Novus, you can buy a 3 grit bottle set for about $15, it works great on plastic, horn and metal for a fine finish, great for polishing safety glasses. You just need a drop so a bottle last a long time.

Love the clear plastic handles.
