Default Best way to eliminate excess water from a shaving brush

After soaking or wetting the brush prior to a shaveis it better to squeeze the hairs to eliminate the excess water, or shake the brush?

Also after the shave when I rinsethe brush,is it better to squeeze the hairs to eliminate the excess water, or shake the brush?

I'm asking because I'm worried if I shake the brush too hard the hairs will come out in time.

I gently squeeze the excess, then give it a shake, then leave it inverted to dry. It goes back on the shelf the next day.

I shake mine about 30 times and let them hang for 3 days. YMMV.

I squeeze, shake it pretty vigorously, and hang it.

If hairs are coming out while you’re shaking then they are definitely falling out when you lather and shave. Don’t be afraid to shake it, leaving excess water in the knot is the fastest way to destroy a natural brush.

To remove excess water I hold brush bristles down and shake it.

Shaking is the best way. Unless you have a really terrible brush shaking will cause no damage. On the other hand squeezing can cause damage since you are pulling on the hair. However a gentle squeeze after washing shouldn't do any damage.

On the “ before the shave” part of your question...don’t soak it. Just dip the tips, add water to the tips a little at a time as you need to when loading the brush and continue to add drops and dribbles as you build a lather. The brush never needs to be soaking wet except when you’re cleaning the soap out after shaving. Then I squeeze gently and shake vigorously into my shower stall.

I soak mine before the shave then shake it out. Make lather adding water in drips. In the end i lightly squeeze then shake 20 times in the shower then lightly strop the hairs on a dry towel. When i set it to dry its only damp and not wet. The only time i have had an issue with hairs falling out is when it was a poorly made knot to begin with.
