Rinse thoroughly after use. I prefer to hang mine to dry. You can fashion a loop to tie around the handle. I hang mine on the towel rack in the bathroom.
When the brush doesn't lather as well as it used to, I use some shampoo to whip up a normal lather and rinse thoroughly. This does a nice job of restoring good lathering characteristics.

Hung or not, make sure you shake out the all water before you put it away.

+1 rep for that. Would someone care to comment on the following: allegedly, Simpson and Thäter brushes are the only brushes that can be put on their handles to dry, because their knots are so dense. Other brushes (i.e. those of lesser quality) will rot, because water will eventually gather inside the knot.
BALDERDASH !!!
It doesn't matter whether you hang your brush or stand it up or even lie it down the moisture will always run to the knot from capillary action, the same effect which causes sap to run up the tree. That's why you must shake the water out well.
Hanging a brush will keep dust and other foreign material from collecting on the bristles.
