You should be able to use the SRD ceramic bowl to store soap and create the lather in it too. Just be aware of the fact that is a very large bowl, and weighs a lot. So you probably won't want to travel with it...

I store the soap in a container, generally the one the soap came in.
I have a couple of lather bowls but eventually gave up on that idea. Seems an extra step and an extra piece of equipment that in the long run are not needed. Simply load up the brush with soap and build the lather right on the face.
The one drawback I can see to face-lathering -- if you get too much water it is hard to "recover" and get back to a good soap/water ratio. This is just a matter of a little experience, though. If unsure, start light on the water as it is quite easy to add a bit of water to bring things to their optimum mix. Actually, with some experience, I pretty much get it right from the start without a lot of fuss.
i had a TOBS wood bowl that bled wood stain into the soap, so I don't use wood bowls anymore.
wooden bowls just look cool!

Thuya burl??? Looks pretty.
I love wood. I've been angry that I can't find a decent piece of Thuya burl at my local exotic wood supplier.
That bowl is nothing but pure-D gorgeous! Bet it would look great with a similarly handled brush.
Nice stuff!
I use a ceramic bowl with a lid that came with my basin and jug set. I make the lather in a pottery bowl I got at the local markets. I do like the bowl my Crabtree and Evelyne soap came in too, though...
I even like the Proraso bowl; it's a great choice for camping, it's light and you can use the lid to make the lather in, and the lid fits nice and tight. I find Proraso is a nice strong scent for camping trips too, it can hide some smell if you haven't been able to shower properly!
since a few people asked...the thuya wood bowl above cost me $27 shipped (i'm in the usa).
