Nice. Never seen that style before.:tu
How big is yours?
I have a very similar one in plain white.
It has a hole at the bottom, and if you fill it with hot water prior to shaving you'll also have warmed up lather.
Looks really nice. I never understood how these old soap mugs/scuttles work, and I don't know if BeBerlin already has the info in the wiki ;).
Don't mean to hijack but can someone clue me in?
Nothing too tragic, I think.
There is the part for the soap with the spines to keep it from soaking and with a little nose for the soap water down into the lather bowl. Well and the lather bowl. Its rather small though.
Ah even metric, yep, about the same size.
Manufactured in Tettau.
No there was no cork. Did your's come with one?
Yep, did the metric for the friends across the pond. ;-)
Mine says, 'manufactured in U.S.A.' Of course, many countries are going to manufacture a good thing. lol
Mine didnt come with a cork, but it will soon have one...i cant wait to try putting hot water in the interior...again, an awesome idea!

LOL I usually convert to inches for you!
Maybe it wasn't meant to have a cork at all.
Just put it on the desk upside down and before you shave, you empty it.
The porcellain will store some heat.
Maybe you can water your brush in it, hehehe
