Since I use select hardwood stain isn't a need. For a finish, well, either Danish Oil or a Walnut oil/ beeswax finish. Most of the hardwoods that I use are oily and dense making them great around water... though all burls usually go though a professional stabilization process.

Numbering 1-8, from left to right, I like 1, 4, 6, and 8, but can't decide between 1 and 4 for my recommendation.
I've turned 2 chess piece handles thus far. The bishop went fast. :-) thanks again btw.
I ended up choosing the bocote handle. Its dark grain and pattern go great with some highly figured bocote scales that are sitting in my shop ready to adorn my new razor. Oh, and for the knot, I'm going with a 22mm Silvertip from Golden Nib.
Thank you all for your comments and compliments.
#5 from the left. Reminiscent of a Rook. If you ever make these please do custom chess pieces.

I like 3,5 and 7 starting from the right
Gentlemen,
I debated between Nos. 2 and 4. I like the clean lines in No. 4, but No. 2 is something plucked out of the Victorian era. Being fond of that era, therefore, I choose No. 2.
Regards,
Obie
Good choice, Obie. I picked that one and it's now on it's way to me. Here it is in it's finished form.
