I think I have a thing for smaller brushes.
Tonight I tried out a brush that I had just finished restoring. It's only markings are USA Sterilized 7. I replaced the old knot with an 18mm Silver Tip Badger Hair knot from TGN. I went with the smaller knot only because that is all the would have fit the hole. Anyway, I tried it out tonight and I was amazed with its performance. I thought a smaller brush would just make the lathering more work, but instead it felt like I had so much more control over where the lather went. Another thing that supprised me with this smaller brush was that I didn't have to add any extra water. The brush held exactly enough water to make the perfect amount of lather. Another mistaken concern I had about smaller brushes was that being smaller it might not hold enough lather for three passes. I was pleasently mistaken. There would have been enough lather for 5 or 6 passes.
I love this smaller brush and this one I plan on keeping for myself.
