Hot towel users
Not sure if this is the right spot or not...
For those of you out there who use a hot towel in your pre-shave routine. Do you have a special towel for it you like to use? I was thinking about it the other day and wondered if people spend as much time considering a hot towel as they do when they select a new brush or razor?
I just use one of the hand towels that go along with the sets my wife buys, but I've had different sizes, thickness's, and softness towels at different barber shops in some of the locations I've been stationed at. IE Japan babershops verses the ones Stateside.
Anyhow, just a random thought that I thought I'd pass along and see what others might be thinking.

Nothing fancy
Good afternoon!
I always use hot towels (I dip them in kettle water - super hot and let it sit on my face until it cools and then repeat a few times). I can't imagine using something fancy, though. Just whatever happens to be the clean washcloth of that moment. I do stay away from white because if I use it to wipe off after and I've cut myself...my wife loves that one!

You can pretty much use anything. I know classic sold two types. One were some vintage barber clothes with a green stripe and the other were some terry towels.

I use 6 egyptian cotton towels my girlfriend found for me. They are heavy and soft, and a big improvement over the $1 hand towels from Smith's I was using.
I roll them lengthwise, then twist into a tight spiral, pour hot water from the kettle and then go at it.

I have both types sold by Classic. I've also had a shve at Truefitt and Hill and by a local barber. Both used small thin towels like those sold by Classic. All were thin llighter weight than what most have for hand towels. I've had to use 2 of the barber towels to hold in the steam no matter what fancy barber way I've folded them around my face. I like a normal hand towel steamed in my junker rice steamer. Best wishes.

I have four or five in a rotation. They are effectively just flannels, so square shaped. I soak them in water from the tap (yes, it can be steaming hot at times!), then squeeze them and then onto my face. I then use it to wipe the used foam off my razor and onto them.
I would recommend two things:
- First, ensure you use 100% cotton towels. They absorb water better and feel softer on the face.
- Finally and quite importantly, make sure they are clean. Last thing you want to use is a towel that gets your face infected!! I ensure mine are always fresh from the drawer and washed at a high temperature.
