How do you hang your brush?

I was just looking at my brush the other night and realized that a few of the hairs seemed to be pushed off to the side. It looks like when I hang my brush in the stand, I tend to hang it from the know where it meets the handle. This seems to push the hairs at the edge of the knot around and almost out of order. I ended up hanging the brush recently from the bottom most portion of the handle but it then rests with in a mm of the base of the stand.

Just curious about how you hang your brush. Do you hang it from the knot or from the handle?

Just curious, especially if there are any pros or cons on either situation.

I hang mine the same way as Otto, with the holder resting where the knot meets the handle.

Ditto...tips touching anything would possibly result in a set to the bristles and inhibit drainage...

By the way Otto...that varigated handled brush is pretty neat...never seen anything like it!

I hang my brushes in acrylic drip stands so that the tiny drops of water remaining in the hairs drip away from the handle.

I learned my lesson a long time ago, when I dried the brush and let it stand on the counter with the hairs pointing up. Eventually tiny drops of remaining water in the brush seeped into the wooden handle and cracked it.

Also, I always fluff up my brushes on the towel after thoroughly rinsing and drying. There is something to looking at a fluffy brush in the drip stand.

Almost all vendors carry various acrylic brush stands. Make sure the opening on the brush stand is big enough to handle your brush. Some brush stands take, say, brushes as large as 23 mm. If your brush is 25 mm. or bigger, it will not fit in the stand.

+1, I am careful when placing a brush in a stand to avoid displacing any bristles. I have a number of brushes and rotate daily. A large and a small stand and use the appropriate stand depending on the size of the knot.

Same here. I am always careful about hanging my brush, bristles down, from the holder to avoid displacing any of the bristles.

Hopefully I'm allowed to post in this thread; I don't hang my brushes from anything. Instead, after flicking them as dry as possible by hand, I set them down standing up on their ends, with the bristles to the sky and let them dry that way.

There has been at least one lengthy debate as to whether one way is better than the other. In my personal experience, the way I use works perfectly well.

I used to just stand mine up, but decided that this would let water pool in the knot, so I made a stand and it now hangs from the handle.

Velcro under the medicine cabinet. For flat bottom brushes.

For me, it depends on the size of the brush, since I only own one razor/brush stand. It's either by the base of the handle or the knot. And +1 to what Obie said about towel drying. I do that and fluff and reshape the hairs before I hang the brush.

I just bought a new brush to replace one that seemed too big for my face and had more than a few hairs going in every direction- How fix that-just trim them off??
Anyway my wife bought me a chrome stand and of course it would not hold either the old or the new so today I took it to the diamond grinder- fits the handle above the hair now hanging down- seems to let the hairs stay together for me.

I'm another that just sets his brush right side up without a stand, it works fine. I got rid of my stand a while ago when excess shaving paraphernalia lost its luster. When I did use a stand ,though, I used one that grabbed the base of the handle. The ones that grabbed the tops of the knots seemed to bend bristles if not used carefully.

I do both. When I finish shaking the water out, I put it in the holder bristles up to allow the water vapor to escape upward.....I'm kind of paranoid about getting brush rot (if there is such a thing). The next time I use the bathroom I flip it back over. I really don't think there's a right or wrong way.

It's OCD with me. I spent $150 on my brush and want to get another 9 years out of it. :gl:

I just shake mine out real well and dry it standing on its base.
