i recently aquired a badger brush and shave mug from and antique store, needless to say i now have a better lather than i did from my boar hair brush, but the badger is shedding on me, i may need to purchase a knot for one of the bases, how does one measure the knot, and what is a good place to get them from
Measure the ID of the hole for the knot. Pick a knot a little smaller than the ID of the hole so you can fit it easier. The knot can be epoxied in the handle.

yes that helps alot, i am contemplateing removeing the boars hair knot, and putting a badger hair in its place, but that is a project for later this spring, or when the other one loses to many hairs
You just want to be very careful with that measurement because if the hole is even a tad too big you will have problems with the knot staying put in the handle and will have to use something like Gorilla Glue which expands as it dries to keep it in place.
