Reusing a Knot

A few months ago I made my own brush using a knot from TGN. I used a wooden handle and the finish I used on the handle hasn't held up as well as I would have liked. I would like to purchase a synthetic brush handle from TGN and turn it to put the knot in, however I would hate to throw the knot away. It is still in very good condition and I would hate to waste it. Is there a way that I can use it? Perhaps sand the epoxy off the plug at the base? Also how would i go about getting the knot out? If im not going to keep the handle could I just cut it out?

I have re-used a TGN knot - it was UK Super, not very dense and too long loft - so I took it out by destroying the handle and put it in a new one at a much shorter loft.
Then I did a few surgeries on Kent's BK 4 (same issue as the one above, great make-up brush, but totally useless as a shaving brush) - took the knots out and re-handled at much shorter loft - now one can use the brushes.

Go very carefully, as we do not know much about your brush, but I make small saw cut around the knot area, just stopping shy of the knot. Then I used a screwdriver and pried the material away from the knot. If you are lucky, none of the glue has touched the hair....

I think you could par the wood of easily with a wood chisel after you rough saw close to the knot. Screwdriver might work, but sounds like a slip and get cut as it compresses the wood.
Heck a good carving knife would even work at that point, try not to knick the hairs.

Use a band saw to cut the handle off and use small pliers to pull off any small pieces. You may lose a few brush hairs doing this, but it will work and you can use the knot again for another handle. Attention to detail is a must for this operation.
