i truly do love my wee scot.. i love facelathering and a wee scot lets me really work at it.. but i'm wondering.. are there smaller sized boar brushes out there? seems to me that most boar brushes are a bit larger.. now the wee scot has a 14mm knot.. which i guess could be considered a bit too small for most.. but how about a boar brush with say an 18mm knot? anyone know of one?
Try the Omega 21047.
Fantastic brush, tiny size. it's actually a mix of boar and...something. I think badger, some people say "special boar hairs."

i'm sure nothing will ever replace the wee scot though.. i absolutely love it.
I just grabbed a knot from the Golden Nib for a brush restore and they are not stocking Boar knots anymore so there is not a large selection of them and once they are gone they are gone.Quote:

so as an update.. all the photos i see online show the brush labelled pura sertola.. however.. the brush in my hands is labelled tasso & setola..
what's tasso? my translater claims it's rate..

Ha! They finally copped to it. When I got mine, I KNEW it was a mixed brush, but Omega kept telling people it was a mix of special boar bristles.

No worries... I'm going to use it anyhow... I like to store the brushes I'm not using in prescription bottles with holes for venting. Keeps them in a rigid container to prevent damage piled in a drawer or box. Most are in the T-60 larger / taller bottle, where the Wee fits perfectly in the smaller T-16 size.Quote:

I believe the performance for face lathering they are very comparable, the Case has just a little larger handle, and knot, but both are great face lathering brushes in my book. Not too stiff, not too floppy, and provide enough massaging the face and whiskers to provide a great shave... two passes easily.Quote:

really? the tweezerman was that bad? next time send it my way.. i'd be glad to put it to use..
the hardest part for me is finding a small enough brush.. a 22mm knot just feels like a giant mop to me..

yeah.. it seems like people don't like the idea of a used brush.. i've eaten out of plenty of trashcans.. so i could care less if a brush is used..
anyway.. did you get the omega brush that is pure boar or a mix of badger and boar.

It seems to hold more water for such a small brush. I think it actually holds more water than the large Omega I have. Since it's smaller it seems like less soap goes a longer way with the brush releasing more soap than it captures.Quote:

It currently feels a little scratchier than my 100% Boar but I think it needs some time to break in. My 100% boar feel softer on the face than either of my FrankShaving Brushes however it is much stiffer.

So many products to choose from, through the different product lines and that never-ending search for that 'just right combination' of preparation methods, brush type or size with soap or cream, strop type works with which razor... a plethora of selections.Quote:

I've received the Omega last week and tried over the weekend... while it is an okay brush, I prefer my Simpson Case (which is the same height with larger handle) over the Omega boar.
Maybe it's because I used a boar brush for decades and when I discovered badger, boar is somewhat... boring ;)
I think I'll use the Omega Might Midget for camping, so I don't subject my Wee Scot to the elements.
Hey Victor,
If your looking for a small boar I don't think it gets much smaller than the Omega #50014 - TurnBack Travel Brush. I can typicall get two to three pass out of this little guy with out much trouble and very nice on the face.
the 47011 is still slightly smaller that the turnback travel brush..
