need advise on upgrading form wee scot to new forest

so i've recently purchased a new forest 2 band.. it's quite handsome and everything.. but i seem to be having an issue..

with my wee scot.. i soak the brush, wet my face, smear a tiny amount of cream on my chin and facelather.. works everytime.. except.. now with the new forest.. i do the same thing and my cream just vanishes.. i think the brush just eats it.. do i have to use more cream? or is there another answer? i really don't want to use twice the cream if it's not going to actual use.

the wee scot has a 14mm knot, while the new forest has a 22mm knot.. aren't the techniques still the same?

Sounds like a dense brush that wants more cream. I have a dense silvertip brush that eats up creams, so I just use it for soaps. I have another brush that is less dense and it works well on both creams and soaps.

You would be better off not Face lathering. I have a New Forest which I soak, shake the excess water off and then use an almond size amount of SC in a bowl. Works fine.

It's hard to compare another brush to a wee scot because it's so small so the most minimal amount of product will lather up pretty fast and give a high degree of efficiency. As you get into larger brushes they just take in more product.

is there something is can do to avoid having to use more cream? if i don't press as hard and don't open the breech.. does that make a difference or something?

You need to use a proportion depending on the cream itself and the brush size. I would say keep with small brushes if you want to use minimal amounts of cream.

If you use too little for the brush you will never build up lather. You can use more water but the consistency will suffer. If you stick with a super concentrate cream and a small brush you would probably get the best result or closest to what you want anyway.

thank you.. i guess there really is no denying that the wee scot is an amazing brush.. not only does it preserve cream.. it dries fast.. and it keeps the lather on my face and not all over the place.. now if only i could get it in a silvertip and horn handle.

Why would you want to preserve cream? If you use it up quickly it's just another excuse to try more products...:)

Two band brushes are really great brushes to use with hard soaps. They are also excellent with creams.

The Wee Scott is tiny!!!!! I have one. To get decent lather with a larger brush you need more cream, simple as that. Use it up, a good excuse to buy more. Even with generious size dollops for each shave, a pot lasts a long time. Treat yourself.

I agree with everyone here: the bigger brushes hunger for more cream. And, yes, my friend, think of the luxurious smooches in all that lovely lather.
