    Default What is this brush?

    Hi,

This is an antique brush my dad thinks could be circa 1800. It is around 110mm long in total, and the knot is about 20mm. What is it for? Could it be for shaving or did it have another use?

    Thanks.

For a wood handled brush to be that old and in that condition would be incredible assuming that's the original handle. It is a shaving brush. Probably badger. If its that old they didn't use boar then they used horse as a cheaper alternative but it doesn't look like horse.

    Possibly a barbers neck brush,
