Simpson case, why so stiff?

Gents, does anyone have any experience with the simpsons case travel brush? I recently purchased one to use for travel and have played with it a bit over the last few days. Tonight I attempted to face lather with it and things went pretty downhill. The thing is as stiff as a toothbrush.? When I say stiff, I mean STIFF! There is absolutely no give or bloom unless a good amount of pressure is used to splay out the bristles. I own several brushes including a small Plisson and I have never come across anything so stiff, even before getting it wet and break in. My question is, am I missing something is regards to expecting it to soften so soon? Will this brush break in and become more plyable? I don't think it will seeing that hot water and several lathings in, it literally feels like lathering with a toothbrush... Any experiences with this brush? Does the Wee Scott have the same type of stiffness? Thanks in advance guys!

My experience with that brush is quite different from yours.
Mine is actually quite soft, not even close to my 2-bands when it comes to backbone.
It blooms fine and is quite comparable with other Simpson brushes that I have.
Well, apart from the obvious difference in size, that is.

To me it almost sounds like yours is faulty.
I would suggest contacting the store you purchased it from, and ask them what they think

Thanks for the reply! I contacted the dealer and discussed the brush today. We determined it is just my preferences coming forth. I have never used a Simpson's brush and am used to very soft bristles such as Vulfix Super Badger and Plisson HMW. The backboned Simpson's are just not for me apparently.

Yeah, my description of the Vulfix silvertip would be "flaccid," and that's if I'm feeling generous. Just goes to show how we all have different preferences!
