Well for my own selfish reasons I hope this makes it to the 15th lol.
I think I would like to get one of these. I am undecided on whether I should get a fan or bulb shaped brush. I would like to try a fan-shaped brush, but I am worried that it would be too large for me, with the knot diameter being 26mm. Any thoughts or comments? Any help is appreciated.
I was really happy to read that Thäter will be laser-etching the branding. It is nice to know that suggestions are taken seriously.
Nice work Max!
Oh yeah, funds sent for this big dog in a bulb! Thanks for putting this group buy together and making it available at a better price.
Just wanted to put in a special thanks here to both Max and Robin (former Mod here). Robin put in a ton of time with the Thater folks which totally helped get this group by under way and get to conclusion. Max designed the handle and has also put in a ton of time orchestrating the group buy and taking care of all the logistics. Please give these two a big round of gratitude!!
Thank you guys for putting this together .. It's an excellent opportunity to get a unique item.. Thank you very much.
Thanks to all who made this great opportunity possible.
Bah I made it, I was really afraid this would be over before I had some money available!
Bulb paid for! :)
We are now 2 more closer as I just purchased one each. Special thanks to Max, Robin and Lynn. Getting closer now.
Lou
I would have to guess we're in the high 80s to low 90s range. So many have purchased 2 and I'm sure some have bought and not posted on this thread. I'll be excited when we get word from Max that we met our mark
Payment sent on a fan!
Special thanks to everyone for making this possible.
goddamn buy buy buy, i want this. :D i like this handle by the way. first i thought this is ugly. Now i think its a totally new shape and unique. :D thanx max, lynn and everybody else.
I was the same, didn't care for the handle initially. But then again, I'm a novice. Once I had time to more fully consider it, compare it to photos of the best of what's out there, and especially once I considered there must be reason's for the design on such a high-end brush and reasons so many experienced users were clammoring for this new design--well, it was all over for me and I eagerly snapped one up.
I'll tell you guys something, Lynn sent the prototype brush to me for me to evaluate . I absolutely love the handle. It is long enough to where your fingers aren't 'in the bowl' when lathering and IMHO is a beautiful design to boot. The bristles are gorgeous. Densely packed and the contrast between the black and white was striking. I've had the best of the Simpsons, Rooneys and Plissons and I can tell you the brush I examined was the equal of any I've seen. The tips were buttery soft but absolutely no flop to this brush. Backbone that doesn't quit. No scritch on the one I tested if that is an issue one way or the other. So if you're on the fence jump on in .... the water is fine. :tu

hahahahahahahaha i just laughed my arse off
UPDATE 09/09/11: We have hit our min of 100 brushes. The group buy will stay open until this coming Sunday night 09/11/11. No more orders will be taken after Sunday 09/11/11. These are the last 2 days for placing your brush order.
awesome, I knew we were close but wasn't sure if we'd get it today or tomorrow. :y
Now I just have to decide if I want to order a fan also before the ordering closes... oh the headaches. :gaah:
Congratulations, folks, you will not regret this !
Just placed my order for a Fan shaped knot. Thanks SO much for putting this together. I was trying to resist buying another brush for the longest time, but I LOVE the handle. And the opportunity to buy a Thäter 2-band in a FAN shape no less, resistance was futile. I love the enablers
I just purchased a bulb-shaped brush. Thank you to Max, Lynn, Robin, and Thäter for the collaboration and work for this project.
I decided on the bulb due to Robin's review. He mentioned that the 24mm brush was very large with the fan-shaped knot. I like a larger brush, but I didn't want to risk it being too large.
I look forward to receiving it in time.
Can someone enlighten me to whether or not this brush: Best Badger Hair Shave Brush
is a fan or not? It's not a bulb, but is it a fan? It's the brush I currently have and I find myself wanting something a bit smaller but this is too good a deal to pass up. I'm trying to decide between fan and bulb. Unless someone wants to buy me one shape and I'll buy myself the other ;).
For me the brush you linked to I consider bulb. If you like to experience a bigger sized loft against your face get the fan. If not I would suggest you stay with the 26/55 bulb. YMMV of course.
Payment sent! Thank you very much for organizing all of this.
Whoa... I'm glad I got my two ordered this morning. I almost messed around and missed out! Thanks very much for all the effort on this Max!
Update 10/26/2011
I got an email from Thäter today that everything seems to be going well. They finished the brush heads and will be woking on the brush handles this next coming week. Laser etching and packaging are last. If all goes well they feel confident shipping out the brushes to us in the US somewhere between the first and second week of November. Add whatever time it's in transit from Germany + a few days to get everything organized and the brushes will be on their way to their owners. A new update will follow.
Thanks to everyone for their patience.
Thanks for the update Max! Can't wait.
Thanks for all your hard work. I am really look forward to its arrival.
Man! We should open the box and hear Angels singing! I know waiting is tough, but is always worth it! Should be nice!
I'm really pumped for this. I feel like a kid looking forward to Christmas... in June.
Here's a teaser I just received.

OMG they look GREAT!!!!!:gl:
Thanks again to the organizers for the opportunity to purchase the brush.
Nice photos - they both look wonderful but I am glad that I went with the fan.
But then, all of my brushes are fans. This one will be my first non-Simpson brush.
