Yes, but....
All of the crap that was produced 100 years ago fell apart at least 75 years ago:p If it is still in one piece today it was probably pretty finely crafted. On the other hand, newly manufactured junk has not yet had the opportunity to fail ;) .
This line of reasoning is similar to the suggestion that man will have the right to call the dinasours an evolutionary failure only when our species survive even a tenth of the time that they (the dinasours) dominated the planet.
