So there is a lot of talk of restoring razors, making your own scales, etc. However, I have yet to see much of custom brushes/handles being made. Just wondering if anyone is offering any of those services, or has any place to direct me to, to do such a thing. I'm currently restoring a Worchester and Co. razor (not on the good, or bad list, so giving this a shot!), with the help of Linacman and his workshop. It's coming along great. We decided to use Burmese Blackwood for the scales, which I have just finished the 1500 grit sanding on this week, looking for waterlox coating here in the next few days.
So here comes the dilemma; with my OCD-ness, I like things to match. I would love to have a handle for a badger brush, also made in this blackwood. Then I would have a beautiful (almost) custom set/restore.
Any direction is greatly appreciated (especially if it means I'm not breaking the bank as a highly budgeted college student)! Or, if you happen to be in about a 100 mile radius of Auburn, AL, and have the materials/tools to either make razors or have a lathe to make handles, I would be MORE than happy to drive to the shop and work on the handle myself/get some mentoring on these processes.
There is just something about having things made by your own hand that just ooze sexiness to me. Must be the mind of a future engineer.
Much obliged, gentlemen.
