Email from Shavemac - their brushes still made in Germany

Someone at another forum posted that new Shavemac brushes don't say "Germany" on the handle anymore, and that they are probably now made elsewhere. I emailed Shavemac about this, and received a quick response confirming that their brushes are still made in Germany. This is the actual text from the Shavemac email:



Hello Ricardo Torres, Jr,


I know there are a lot of rumors outside about who makes brushes and when where.

We have changed our logo to make it more readable. Having Shavemac, Germany and a line of points on the front side of the handle it is too much. So we have split it into two parts.

The front side only says : shavemac
The back side says : Handmade - Germany

I like to say it explicit:

SHAVEMAC NEVER HAD SOLD SHAVING BRUSHES WHICH ARE NOT MADE IN GERMANY.
ALSO WE DO NOT INDENT TO CHANGE THIS.

Side note on Shavemac: I have a Shavemac brush, my only brush, that I have been using for 10 years. It is 'as good as new.' And Bernd Blos is truly an old world gentleman. I wonder how someone with such a durable product can stay in business, but I guess the answer is in the question.

Shavemac brushes are nice and there are definitely fanboys from another forum or two who push these brushes when they can. Nothing wrong with them. I own a couple still, I think. A lot of the retailers in the US don't sell Shavemac any more as the manufacturer decided to compete against them in the retail market and was selling brushes for less than the prices given to the vendors.

When I was into bigger brushes the 28mm and 30mm bulbs were very nice. I have never known them not to be made in Germany. I believe Bernd is also very accommodating on group deals and stuff like that.

Full disclosure: not a fanboy
I belong to another forum or two, but honestly, this is my portal for straight razor information. I seldom enter the other forums except when a google search takes me there.
Now, not trying to buddy up to the big cheese or anything, but I have been lusting after a Thater. I have several things to add to the arsenal before I hit THAT button.
I am new to straight razor shaving but I feel I have reached the first plateau: my ladyfriend thinks I am crazy for this interest.
