i just received my heinrich L. Thater shaving brush from SRD.

I just like to say the brush is absalutley beautiful to use. i heard they were good. i just had to try one.. Wow they just feel amzing when in action on my face. i have tryed some top brushers (silver tipped) this one just feels so so soft on my skin yet has plenty of strenght in the bristles , makes alovely lather .. highly recomended from me and thank you to donn and lynn for supplying such a high quality brush.

i need to buy another one as a spear.

I tried that once - anything bigger than a fly and you are going to have penetration issues. :D

At one time they were a best kept secret. Folks know about them now though.

Heinrich L. Thater brushes are exceptional. I have three silvertips, two 22 mm and one 24 mm. This morning, as I shaved with the 22 mm Thater, I was in awe of how exquisite this brush is. I felt as if I were smooching with an angel. I have Simpsons, Rooneys, Shavemacs and a few other ones. The Thaters, however, are in their own class, for me, anyway. Thanks to Lynn for stocking a good supply.

Obie, do I remember correctly that you face-lather? as in needing heavy backbone? Would these be your pick for cost/performance? or maybe others you feel better?

Yes, I do. Indeed, they do have good backbone, and are densely packed. I use them both with creams and soaps. All are superb performers, and worth the money. Since they are handmade, no two are alike, and some will be denser than others. These silvertips are silvertips. None of the brushes I have — Simpson, Shavemac, Rooney, Vulfix and Semogue — disappoints when using soaps or creams. If I were left one only one choice for a shaving brush, however, it would have to be the 22 mm Thater — I don't remember the number, but I think it's 22 something, their version of the Chubby. Exquisite.

I wish I old only afford a nice thater I can dream for a while

The only Thater I have is the 2011 SRP LE, and it's a great brush. I have to admit that it was not an instant winner, as it seemed a bit fussy to use at first and took a little practice to master, but now it's a favorite.

i used mine again last night compared to my simpsons etc the bristles on this brush are of a differant quality ... very good on the face , just atotaly differant experiance that has made wet shaving even better

I recently received a Fine badger from SRP from my mother for a birthday, definitely no comparison to my VDH cheapies. They are permanently shelved. And if I remember it was only ~$40. Definitely worth it.

A Thater is one of the next purchases on my list. Threads like this make me want to pull the trigger this instant!!

I love my three-band silvertip, 49125/0, although I might consider getting one size bigger, it would likely help my bowl lathering. Beautiful, very soft and still plenty of backbone.

I helped my brother install windows in his house and he bought me one as a thank you gift. I thought it was rather extravagant till I felt it on my face the first time. it was love after that! My oldest son told me there was no way any brush was worth that kind of money, so I let him try it...LOL..he said it was like sex on your face..I almost fell down laughing. 4125-2 26mm bulb.

I have the srp Thater, every said get one you won't be disappointed, well after the first time i used there was much disappointment.....in all my other brushes. I just have an urge to use my old brushes anymore i have to force myself to use them lol, i well probably get another one at one point

My son expressed interest in getting some quality shaving gear (16 year old). So with Christmas coming up I am putting together a shaving kit for him. I have the Merkur Heavy Duty, the Proraso soap, and the Shavemac Silver tip badger brush (that I used for the last 4 years) lined up for him. I took this opportunity to update my brush and got the Thater two band finest bulb in olive wood. Beautify brush! The olive wood (like people say "signature scent" in the perfume industry) is now my signature wood - if that makes any sense. What a difference this brush makes. The Shavemac, while a good and adequate brush, is sloppy and floppy compared to this. The Thater makes a richer, denser lather while feeling soft, but not floppy, on the face. I am very happy with it. The wife is happy with it too. I let her use my brush to shave what ladies shave.

I have a Thaeter 4292/6.

Fantastic brush it may be BIG, an absolute dream too use. Workmanship is outstanding and as for the hair it is like being kissed by an Angel.
