reconditioning a brush?

Hello all and happy November1St.
I have searched the forum here and not found a good thread to recondition a brush. I have an art of shaving brush which is a pure badger brush. I have had it a long time probably close to ten years. It is the only brush I have, and I have cleaned it well over the years. I have always tried to take as good care of it as possible but it seems lately that it is getting I guess to soft to make good lathers anymore..I know like anything else that things to break down over time but this is not losing bristles but it just seems like it is not doing the same job any more.
Is there a way to bring this kind of thing back to life so to speak or is it time to just bite the bullet and get a new one..
I would like to hear from all of you if this is possible since money is tight and getting a new decent brush really is not in the budget as of now..
Can a brush be saved so to speak. It is a shame because if I need to get a new one it will have to wait due to other financial items..any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

There are a multitude of threads in here about reconditioning older brushes...


Basically

Strip the brush down: I use a soak of 20 Mule Team Borax
Wash throughly: I use Mane & Tail Shampoo in the shower twice
Condition: I use Mane & Tail Conditioner once


If it works, great if not there are threads on how to Re-knot an old brush too :p

Thanks Glen. I guess the key words I used were not the best ones for this type of answer..I kept getting threads on re knotting brushes.. I will definitely try this out.

Worth a try brother, worst case senario you get a new knot, better a whole new brush hehehehe
