Cheap badger that came with $40 kit
Victoria Boar Bristles made in Germany (came with #3)
Double Duck M3

The badger may be cheap but I really enjoy it. It is falling apart fast.
The boar surprised me Although I am not crazy about the shape, when wet it is softer.
The DD's is what I was after for a couple of reasons. 1st was the brand. 2nd I think they are Horse and wanted to try that and find one I like to use. I have tried the first 2 DD's and noticed the first one (M3) was missing most of it's guts. It will get a new know someday. M2 was long and floppy. It kind of felt like the boar. The last have yet to get a shampoo and condition treatment but will tomorrow. They really have me guessing. The 5 is smaller at the base (tighter knot) yet a tad bit longer and definitely more stiff. The M5 is wide at the base and feels just as tight at the base but the hair is way soft. Anybody have knowledge of these DD brushes ? It sure would be better than me guessing.

Nice collection! If you don't like how they feel, you can always re-knot them. That's what I do. The red one sure looks like horse! By the looks of the long loft on some of the brushes, it seems that they may be a tad on the floppy side. I like the handles. I have favorite handles, but don't find many on the bay. Like everything DD sold they sourced the items from a variety of manufacturers. So your brushes could have come from anywhere. I know some came from Germany and some from the U.S If it's foreign it should be marked. Most of their brushes were a step up from the common ever-ready and typical drug store brands.

The metal ones are made in Germany. The plastic in U.S.A.. The plastic one feels like my boar wet and dry. The metal feels like horse for sure. They are all so long they get flimsy when wet. The big red haired one is okay because it is so thick of a knot. An o ring might make it even better. Out of all 4 the red haired one is the only one I would use with a puck. I have no experience with anything else in the way of soaps. I am beginning to think they were made for talc. Am I mistaken in thinking they are for soap or is there a better soap suited for this type of brush than what I am using ?

No, the ones I seen for talc are bigger and longer. Maybe they where better suited for soft creams or soft Italian soaps? Don't know, just guessing. The Golden Knib have some very affordable knots. There are many treads that talk about re-knotting a brush. Essentially you cut hair to base take measurement of opening and order the right size. Then carved or drill hair out of base, sand or drill to fit new knot and glue knot in, you may want to do a dry test to see if you need to go deeper or shallower on the knot. Not hard to do and you get execptionals brushes with new knot. I'm partial to the "finest badger" quality they sell. Don't waste your money on "treated (soften) silver tip", too flimsy for any hard soap.

I am guessing horse. It is not at all like my Boar or Badger. I used to own horses and Ha Ha reminds me of a mare I rode for 12 years or so. It's soft and flimsy. Plus I never seen a red badger or red boar brush for that matter.
