Soaps: Martin de Candre, Czeche & Speake, Joris, Klar, La Toja Manantiales, Provence Sante, Mitchell's Wool Fat, Tabac, Savon du Midi, Institute Karite, D.R. Harris (variety), Scottish Fine Soaps, The Art of Shaving sandalwood and Fitjar.

Creams: Xpec, Santa Maria Novella, Castle Forbes, Acqua di Parma, Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, Trumper's Spanish Leather, Maca Root, The Art of Shaving lavender, and Arko unscented for an occasional spiking of soaps.

The brushes are all silvertips — Thater, Rooney and Shavemac — except for one Semogue boar.
Brother - you got it made lol!! I was interested in your brushes as you stated you didn't use pure badger anymore, I wasn't clear - sorry. But to see you buy the best of everything is impressive in itself lol. Sweet!

One day I'll have one of those Thater's... and a tub oh Acqua di Parma!

How do you like the Penhaligon's? I was thinking that was next.

Pehaligon's Blenheim Bouquite has an exquisite fragrance. It's a good shave cream, but I have had better for the money.

Default Art of shaving stores - Any good?

I my self have had nothing but awful experiences the two times I've been there. There soaps and creams are good but don't bother asking for advice. The people don't know the product or how to use them at least
When it comes to straights. I asked about how to strop and the lady was bearing down on the razor while stroping. And another time a guy who claims to shave with a straight every day didn't even know the parts of a razor. My girlfriend asked about something about the Scales of one of the razors and he looked completely confused. For me if your sales team doesn't understand what it is that they are selling and are completely useless then I will take my business to some am online store where the people know what's going on even if I have to wait for it to get delivered.

Keep in mind, that AoS is a chain store. They hire employees just like any other retailer. So you really should not expect thie minimum wage slaves to know much about what they are selling. And too, since they have to pay the outrageous cost of retail space rent, it should be expected that they are needing to charge more for less.
I have a nice brush I got from them 3 years ago, that has not done me any wrong.

I'm sure selling your lambo isn't that heartbreaking when you still drive a bugatti to work. Haha

I think it'll search online to get a better value on a new brush. I was really interested in their stainless handle brushes. I love the heft and solid feel of the heavy metal handle. But if it's not connected to a functional knot of hair, it's going to end up dusting my keyboard instead. Are there other metal handled brushes out there? I seem to just see lots of wood and plastic.

I just had an experience with AOS. I got the large shaving kit as a gift. Pure bager brush and creams soaps and after shave gel. I went to the store and check everything out. First thing, I felt all the brushes and the cheapest "pure badger" was not very good.

I returned my stuff for store credit. I might go with another brand brush. I might get the "refill kit" for 90 bucks, that has everything but the brush. I really like the idea of a SR store being around. Of course its going to be a little more expensive than online. But they just need to "be there for you" to be able to do good business. The people need to know there stuff. I understand pay-scales and such, but they need to teacher there workers. They should have a razor honing service as well.
