Thanked: 3Omega Pro 48 first impressions
I just received a new Omega Pro 48, my previous 2 brushes are the VDH low end and the Tweezerman badger. First thoughts:
1. Stinkiest brush yet for me
2. huge - twice the size of the Tweezerman
3. Lather explosion! Messing around with this and the DR Harris lavender soap this evening, I got a big burst of lather.
4. Acceptably soft on the face, even out of the box. Not too skritchy.

Thanked: 3226Congrats on the new brush. Just give it say 3 weeks of use and it will be more than just acceptably soft on the face after breaking in. My small Omega boar took about that long and now she is real nice in the softness of the tips and no loss of back bone.

It's called the Pro for a reason. You can lather a whole barber shop with one .

Main minus for me it that it won't fit in my brush rack!

I just recently bought an Omega boar brush, and it's literally giving me fits. This morning I was about ready to toss it out the bathroom window! It doesn't smell bad, and it doesn't even shed alot, but... I can't make a good lather with it to save my life. When I soak it, it's like it gets smaller, tighter so to speak. Then, load off my MWF, and try to face lather. It just shoots water and soap all over, almost like the bristles are stuck together. I know other guys have bad positive experiences with boar brushes. Am I doing something wrong? I've been using my badgers for a couple years now and have never bad this issue with them!
Thanks all... Nick

Badger has the quality of holding water which Boar does not so you have to think about how much water you expose the boar to. If you do it like a badger you'll have water all over the place. Also Boar has a longer break-in period and from what I've seen you can get poor results until it breaks in. Once that happens you should get great lather from it.

Thanks very much! I was kind of wondering if I'm getting it way too wet? I've been treating it like I do my badgers, ie; soaking in my mug while I shower, etc. would that cause it to not "fan out", instead the bristles clump together.

The more you use it, the better it gets.
My favorite shaving brush.
